You Can Be A Philanthropist
By Jo Winkle
Each year we are amazed by the generosity of the many philanthropists who contribute to Eagle’s Nest. In 2007 we had 322 donors who contributed a total of $112,345 to our Annual Fund! Because of their donations, Eagle’s Nest Foundation was able to award 19 Outdoor Academy students financial aid in the amount of $111,950 and 47 campers financial aid amounting to $36,020. This was all possible thanks to our many families, friends and alumni who gave generously throughout 2007. Please visit our Honor Roll of Donors online to see who these philanthropists are.
If you have a desire to improve the material, social, and spiritual welfare of humanity, especially through charitable donations and activities, you are a philanthropist! Making a gift of cash, securities, life insurance or real estate is one way you can be a philanthropist for Eagle’s Nest Foundation. Donations in honor of an individual or as a memorial are always welcome.
Gifts to Eagle’s Nest, a 501(c)3, qualify for maximum deductibility for income, gift and estate tax purposes as allowed by the Internal Revenue Service. By pooling gifts of all sizes into one fund, you and your family can provide a significant investment for a specific need like scholarships for The Outdoor Academy or Camp. With a gift of $5,000 or more and a simple agreement, you can establish and name a fund. This amount may be added to at any time and our hope is the donor will replenish the fund on an annual basis.
Endowed funds will provide income for a specified purpose in perpetuity. The minimum amount to establish a new endowed fund is $25,000. This amount may be reached over a set period of years, and the donor may add to the fund at any time thereafter.
As a philanthropist, you can also enjoy the benefits of deferred giving through a planned gift to Eagle’s Nest. Consider making us a recipient of a life insurance policy or of a percentage of your retirement account and please let us know if you have included us in your will. We would like to thank you for being a philanthropist and keeping the Nest in your plans!
