Welcome to our Garden!
The Eagle’s Nest Foundation’s Garden Program supports our environmental objectives by fostering a profound understanding and appreciation of the basic philosophies and practices of gardening. For Eagle’s Nest Foundation, stewardship of our resources includes stewardship and wise management of our land and its gifts.
The Garden Program will help sustain our deeply rooted environmental mission by increasing food production, thereby decreasing our reliance on bought produce. Campers, students, staff, faculty and visitors will actively engage in the Garden Program. Gardening fosters a strong sense of place, a feeling of connection to the land, and a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of life from holistic and scientific perspectives. Gardeners will acquire a language to understand the basics of local agriculture. Participants will appreciate, enjoy and feel pride in being a part of the effort and planning entailed in growing quality fruits and vegetables and tending a community garden. Laboring on the land together also grows, deepens and enriches relationships among participants.
The Program’s 2-acre garden mainly produces annual vegetables that our program participants and staff will enjoy. The ENF Garden Program also has a strong educational component.
Garden facilities include a cottage, high-tunnel (greenhouse type structure), Shiitake Mushroom stand, and a small perennial & cut flower garden.
