Cookouts

One of my favorite times at camp is Cookout. At the end of every week, we gather down at the Athletic Field for a cookout that has been prepared by the Junior Counselors. Campers love being served 500 yard burgers (we call them that because the meat comes from the farm down the road), hotdogs, watermelon and roasted corn. They especially love it when their counselors bring out Cho Chos, the favored camp dessert, at the end of the meal.

As you can imagine, the cookout is a fun, relaxed time when we all get to be together. While the Junior Counselors, who are decked in tie dyes, manage the grill, the campers sit in small groups with their friends or throw the Frisbee out on the field. Many counselors and campers bring instruments to the field too, so music is always interspersed with the laughter.
