Norm Carl
Norm first learned about Eagle’s Nest during his daughter’s freshman year in high school when he and Sarah attended an evening presentation about the Outdoor Academy. When they left the presentation, Sarah “announced” that she was going to OA in the fall of her sophomore year. Sarah did attend Semester XVII and her life was changed. In addition to being an OA alumna, she has participated in two Hantes and has served as a counselor at Eagle’s Nest Camp for two years. The impact that OA had on Sarah led Norm to become a member of the Board of Trustees in 2006.
Norm is a native Nashvillian. He earned his B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University in 1969 and his M.B.A. degree from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt in 1983. His work career has centered around investment management and investment advisory activities. He has also been involved in the golf course and resort development and management business. Currently, he is President of CRA, Inc., a consulting firm that he created in 1988. He has been an active member of numerous non-profit and professional organizations. In 1998 and 1999, he served as President and Chairman, respectively, of the Society of International Business Fellows, an Atlanta-based professional organization whose members are senior executives of major corporations through the southeast and who are heavily involved in matters of international trade and commerce. He has led education programs within SIBF in Europe, China, Japan and Southeast Asia.
He loves to be a part of working with an outstanding group of trustees, management, faculty and staff to continue the work of the Eagle’s Nest Foundation and to enhance the impact that all of its programs have on the lives of the youth it serves. “There is no substitute for experiential education, and Eagle’s Nest is the premier program in the country”.
