Steve Robins
Steve Robins became involved in Eagle’s Nest when in 1998 he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to join University School of Nashville, one of the Outdoor Academy’s founding schools, as head of its high school. Impressed by the effect that OA had on the students from University School, he sought to understand better the culture and programs of this semester program and in the process came to appreciate the extraordinary opportunity that OA, Camp, and the Hante program all provide children. Steve’s son ultimately enjoyed Eagle’s Nest as well. In 1999, Steve joined the Advisory Board of OA, and in 2007 became a member of the Board of Trustees.
Steve was born on Long Island, where he first developed his own love of the outdoors. After moving cross country to Los Angeles, he received both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English from California State University. Prior to moving to Nashville in 1998, an area of the country which his family has grown to love, Steve taught for twenty years at the Buckley School, where he taught English and helped provide students with opportunities to experience and enjoy the outdoors.
In addition to his lifelong commitment to reading, Steve enthusiastically listens to music and whenever possible enjoys spending time in his workshop turning wood.
