AT Trek Photos

Yesterday the trekkers arrived at the Nantahala Outdoor Center and rafted on the Nantahala River! They were happy, healthy, and excited to take showers and do some laundry. Kaitlin met them at lunchtime to bring them their second rations of food and take them out for ice cream. They had prepared hilarious skits about the first half of their trip -- the whole Nantahala Outdoor Center could probably hear the laughter coming from the campsite! They continued on trail today toward their final destination, Deep Gap, where they will be picked up on Tuesday and brought back in time for Final Banquet at camp. AT Trek departed yesterday morning to begin their adventure! After a lot of packing, prepping, and organizing, they were ready to go! They began their journey just south of Fontana Dam on the Appalachian Trail. It was a warm, sunny day with a nice cool breeze.  Everyone was excited and happy. The trekkers will hike south on the AT for six days until they arrive at the Nantahala Outdoor Center.  They will spend the day there rafting, cleaning up, and getting ready to finish their 80+ miles on the trail. They may even get some ice cream!
