OA Alumni
Thank you for your interest in supporting OASES. As an alumna/us of The Outdoor Academy, you are in a powerful position to contribute to this important event. I hope that you have begun to organize a delegation from your school, and that you will be in attendance for the event, April 23-25th 2008.
To register as a delegation coordinator, you will first need to take the following steps:
- Talk with a faculty member at your school who you think will be supportive. Then, with that faculty member, approach your school’s administration with a request to consider approving of the concept. Also talk with your parents about your desire to lead a ninth grade delegation from your school.
- If you meet with approval, you’ll then need to organize a group of up to six ninth graders and a faculty or parent advisor to accompany the group to OASES. Your advisor will need to look into school guidelines for overnight trips and transportation for the group.
- Encourage members of your delegation to register using the student forms. Registration forms must be printed, completed, and submitted with a $30 payment by mail postmarked on or before April 1, 2008.
- Complete the registration forms
- a general registration form
- a medical information form
- a parent permission and behavioral expectation agreement
- a risk and liability waiver
- Make two photocopies of your completed registration forms. Then give one complete copy to your delegation’s adult advisor and another copy to your parents for safe keeping.
- Mail the original registration forms to us, along with a check for $30 made payable to The Outdoor Academy.
- School Assignments - For most schools, OASES will take place during regular school day. Depending on your drive-time to The Outdoor Academy, your delegation may need to depart from your school early on Wednesday morning. Your delegation may miss some classes on that day, and will miss classes on Thursday and Friday. Make sure to check in with all of your teachers at least two weeks in advance of OASES to get any assignments or make-up work.
- Registration will be on a first-come-first-serve basis, and that registration will close once our enrollment is full. Notification will be made on the website, should enrollment be discontinued.
The OASES Registration materials includes:
Please note that all registration materials must be reviewed by the participant's parent or guardian, and that both the parent permission form and the risk and liability waiver must be signed by the parent or guardian.
