Are you looking to work on your survival skills, or an opportunity to explore the streams, forests and trails of Pisgah Forest? For one week this summer, you have a chance to create a base camp in the wilderness of Pisgah, and learn the ancient arts of foraging, natural fire-building, and tracking and calling to the animals of the wild.  Come with us as we reinvigorate the traditions and history of these ancient mountains.

Paleo is an add-on trip during Session I, and begins and ends at Eagle’s Nest.

Session II: French Broad Escapades

June 27 – July 16, 2021
For campers completing grades 6 or 7 in Spring 2021
Cost: $5,120

Strap on your water shoes and get your sunscreen ready for the quest of a lifetime on the French Broad River! Starting at the headwaters in Rosman, NC, your group of adventurers  will travel North towards Asheville, NC. Before you head out on your epic journey you and your group will create the ultimate river vehicles, using canoes as your base.  Your days will be filled with mischief, river navigation, white squirrel sightings, and honing in on those floating skills; let’s not forget the swimming either. You’ll spend glorious nights camping along the river, eating delicious food, and marveling at beautiful sunsets. Adventure awaits on the French Broad River!

**This Added Adventure was formerly known as Huck Finn. Though we value Mark Twain’s legendary novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, after further reflection we have decided to move away from using this book as a theme for our adventure as some of the themes are more suited for study by older children and in an academic setting that allows time for more thoughtful discussion. We hope you get a chance to read and learn from the book as a part of your academic journey. If you’d like to learn more about ENF’s DEI work or access anti-racist resources, click here.**

French Broad Escapades is an add-on trip during Session II, and begins and ends at Eagle’s Nest.

Session III: Sea Islands Adventure

July 18 – August 6, 2021
For campers completing grades 6 or 7  in Spring 2021
Cost: $4,900

A classic Added Adventure!  Campers start with the traditional Eagle’s Nest Camp experience, then head to the Sea Islands – a chain of tidal and barrier islands off the coasts of South Carolina and Georgia – for a week of camping and exploring coastal ecosystems while learning about the diverse flora, fauna, and cultures found on the coast.

This year we’ll visit Cumberland Island, the southernmost island of the Georgia Sea Islands. Cumberland is preserved as a National Seashore with no bridge to the mainland, no motor vehicles, and no towns. In addition to its pristine environment, Cumberland has a rich history of settlement by Native Americans, Spanish explorers, and people from across the eastern United States.

Sleep under the stars, catch fish and crabs, and discover the rich ecosystems of this unique area.  Join us for an exciting adventure in beach life and ocean ecology!

Sea Islands Adventure is an add-on trip during Session III, and begins and ends at Eagle’s Nest.
