Summer Camp Employment

What are the requirements and suggested experience for working at Eagle’s Nest Camp?

We are excited to receive your application! We hire many people with a wide range of experience! It is not necessary that you be an expert at everything (or anything) to be an Eagle’s Nest Camp summer staff member. Some of our staff are “generalists” who help teach a variety of different classes. At the same time, we do like to hire people with extensive experience in particular areas. Experience comes in many forms and includes playing, captaining, and/or helping coach in various sports; it could mean being highly experienced in ceramics, woodworking, or horseback riding. Some of our outdoor programming staff and trip leaders have or are working toward degrees in outdoor education or recreation, while others have extensive training, experience, and certifications. We also prefer to hire staff who have experience working with children and youth, and a desire to continue doing so.

We do have a few basic requirements: Summer staff must be at least 18 years-old and have been out of high school for at least a year.  All of our summer staff must have attained CPR and First Aid certification by the time orientation begins. For those who wish to be Hante Adventures trip leaders, we require outdoor and/or international travel and leadership experience, as well as current Wilderness First Aid and CPR certifications at a minimum (WFR preferred).

Application Process: Applications are received and reviewed until all spaces are filled. There is no deadline for submitting staff applications.  At the same time, it is best to apply in the early winter.  The application process includes at least one interview and reference checks.

Eagle’s Nest Foundation is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disabling condition, or sexual orientation.

We look forward to receiving your application. Please reach out to Callie Sadler at 336-761-1040 or by email at callie@enf.org with any questions.
