A Little Taste of Camp in the Fall
Just two months ago, we were wrapping up our final session of Summer 2013—saying goodbye to wonderful campers and staff for the next nine months. It’s hard to believe so much time has passed already! As fall begins to put a little nip in the air, we get one more taste of camp to tide us over until next year.
Over the last weekend in October, we’ll be joined here on campus by the Trustees of Eagle’s Nest Foundation and the energetic and dedicated people who help new campers find Eagle’s Nest, our camp representatives. For three days, we’ll run activities much like those we have in the summer—kickball, hikes, canoeing, and tie-dye, among many others. We’ll eat in the Whole Kitchen again, and stay in cabins (it’ll get a lot colder at night than it does in the summer though). We’ll wake up to the sound of the bell and go to bed after a campfire and s’mores.
Just like every session of summer camp becomes a big family, this tight-knit group of people comes together as a slightly smaller one, to celebrate the Eagle’s Nest experience and plan for our future. Then that family will go out with open arms, to welcome new people through camp parties, reunite long-time Nesters through alumni events, and carry our mission into the world. In our last taste of summer for 2013, we’re actually getting our first whiff of 2014, and all the wonders it will bring.
Note: Eagle’s Nest Camp Representatives are families of current or past campers who volunteer to host parties and help recruit for camp in the off-season. If you are interested in becoming a CampRep, please contact Assistant Camp Director Liz Snyder (campassistant@enf.org). We’d love your help! We hope we’ll see you at a camp party in your town soon – check out our travel calendar here.
