Participants prepare the rafts and learn from communities along the river!

Session III: Sea Islands Adventure- Accepting Applications

July 14 – August 2, 2019
For campers completing grades 6 or 7  in Spring 2019
Cost: $4,640

A classic Added Adventure!  Campers start with the traditional Eagle’s Nest Camp experience, then head to the Sea Islands – a chain of tidal and barrier islands off the coasts of South Carolina and Georgia – for a week of camping and exploring coastal ecosystems while learning about the diverse flora, fauna, and cultures found on the coast.

This year we’ll visit Cumberland Island, the southernmost island of the Georgia Sea Islands. Cumberland is preserved as a National Seashore with no bridge to the mainland, no motor vehicles, and no towns. In addition to its pristine environment, Cumberland has a rich history of settlement by Native Americans, Spanish explorers, and people from across the eastern United States.

Sleep under the stars, catch fish and crabs, and discover the rich ecosystems of this unique area.  Join us for an exciting adventure in beach life and ocean ecology!

Sea Islands Adventure is an add-on trip during Session III, and begins and ends at Eagle’s Nest.
