Eagle’s Nest takes pride in the quality of its camp staff. We maintain a strict selection process of hiring highly skilled and educated counselors and teachers. We carefully choose counselors who are creative, mature, engaging and fun-loving.
Our staff enjoy the outdoors and have a love for working with children and youth. In fact, many of our counselors are previous Nesters. Campers are surrounded with positive role models. Eagle’s Nest has one staff member to every four campers, and all staff members must be at least 18 years old, the majority being college students.

Seasonal Leadership Team
Head Counselor, Junior Counselor Coordinator
Austin is from Tallapoosa, Georgia and is now a working actor in the Metro Atlanta area. He began his journey with Eagle’s Nest four summers ago as a counselor in Cabin 10. His journey with Cabin 10 continued in 2016 when he served as Head Counselor. In 2017, he joined the Peer Leadership Team as Assistant Program Manager and Junior Counselor Coordinator. He is so excited to reprise his role as mentor and peer leader at Eagle’s Nest this summer as Head Counselor. In his time at ENC, Austin has lead direction of the musical and taught improv, tennis, poetry, and wilderness classes. He finds himself returning time and time again because of the Nest’s intentional and truly caring community.
Wilderness Logistics Coordinator
Hunter is from Akron, OH, and is currently working in Outdoor Education at a camp in central Ohio. This is his first year at Eagle’s Nest and he will be serving as the Wilderness Logistics Coordinator. Hunter loves the camp life. He spent four summers working at a Boy Scout Camp in Ohio, plus two more seasons in Outdoor Education. The opportunity to travel to North Carolina and spend a summer working as the wilderness logistics coordinator was too exciting. Most of Hunter’s free time is spent ether outside camping, hiking, or taking pictures of nature. He also spends far too much time watching my Cleveland sports teams. His favorite place to be outside? Does watching the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field count? It’s outside. Otherwise, it would probably Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Peninsula, OH or Ohiopyle State Park in Ohiopyle, PA.
Assistant Program Manager
Lia is from Asheville, NC and is a student at Mount Holyoke College. She is currently spending a semester abroad in Dublin, Ireland at Trinity College. She has been at Eagle’s Nest for 9 years and this summer she will be the Assistant Program Manager. She chose to come back to Eagle’s Nest because she loves getting to spend the summer surrounded by amazing people. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with friends, playing with dogs, and hiking around western Massachusetts.

Mary Krome is from North Central Florida and has been involved with the ENF community since being a camper over fifteen years ago. She’s happy to join camp this year from Boston, MA, where she recently finished her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Adventure-Based Psychotherapy. She has worked with teenagers in many settings, including rivers, classrooms, and deserts, and looks forward to her role as Head Cabin Counselor in Cabin 5. During winter, you can find her practicing her new favorite sport, curling.
Molly grew up in Miami, Florida, and is currently studying journalism at the University of Florida. She was a camper at Eagle’s Nest for eight years, and this year will be her second year on staff as a counselor. She is coming back to Eagle’s Nest to spend more time in the outdoors breathing the clean mountain air. In her free time, Molly enjoys hiking, swimming, singing and exploring with friends. She is excited to splash around in the beautiful NC waterfalls.
Tessa Eggers was born and raised in Key West, FL. She is currently a second year at the University of Virginia pursuing a degree in Media Studies. Tessa was a past camper and spent the summer of 2018 as a counselor, and will be returning to Eagle’s Nest as a counselor. Tessa is excited to return to the Eagle’s Nest community for another summer of fun. During her free time she enjoys reading, writing, and laying in the sun. Her favorite place to be outdoors is next to a body of water.
Sam is a rising sophomore at NC State majoring in Natural Resources with minors in Forest Management and Political Science. This is Sam’s 9th summer at Eagle’s Nest, and second on staff. Last summer, he worked in the garden as an intern and could not be more excited to be back in the garden teaching kids about organic farming. He is also a wilderness instructor and is looking forward to helping campers fall in love with nature the same way he did as a child at Eagle’s Nest.

Hello, my name is Natalie Warren. I am currently studying Environmental Biology with a specialization in Applied Ecology at McGill University located in Montreal, QC. This will be my 6th summer at Eagle’s Nest but 2nd year on staff. Eagle’s Nest has been my second home for years. I couldn’t imagine spending my summer in a more beautiful place surrounded by amazing people. In my free time I love playing sports or doing anything active. If I’m in more of a relaxed mood I love acrylic painting.
I am originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. With my father being an engineer, I have moved throughout the United States, finding a new home every three to five years. Although I have found myself in Michigan, Alabama, and South Carolina, the most memorable home I have had was Munich, Germany. I am now currently living in Greenwood, South Carolina and pursuing an Environmental Science major and Chemistry minor from Lander University. I am a member of the Environmental Science Student Organization and American Chemical Society. I also represent Lander University through the Presidential Ambassador position. I am working towards a career which will allow me to combine education and travel abroad opportunities. I would like part of my legacy to include that of helping various communities throughout the world with greater sustainability of livelihood. I will be a cabin counselor, activity instructor, and swing staff at Eagle’s Nest this summer. I chose Eagle’s Nest because of its emphasis upon personal growth and acceptance of diversity, both ideals I was exposed to as a student at Munich International School. I am beyond excited to meet and positively impact our campers this summer. My favorite thing to do in my free-time is play soccer. However, anything athletic and outdoors puts a smile on my face. My favorite place to be outdoors is in the woods without a defined path indicating which way to go. I prefer to be immersed in nature.
My name is Tshiamo Maphathe. I am 21 years old and I’m from Johannesburg, South Africa. I currently work for a sports events management company as a race office manager. This is going to be my second year at ENC and I will be the sports head this summer. I really felt compelled to come back and once again become part of such a wonderful community at Eagle’s Nest. Working with children and being outdoors is what I am passionate about and ENC gives me an opportunity to explore this passion. Experiences at camp are always fun and educational for both camp counselors and campers. I spend my free time playing basketball, ice-skating, reading or spending time with friends and family.

She is extremely excited to be back this summer as a counselor and wants to share the magic of camp. Sophia enjoys hanging out with friends, doing arts & crafts, and is an active member of the synchronized swimming club at her college. Sophia’s favorite place to be outdoors is the Blue Ridge Mountains where she likes going on hikes.
Willa was born and raised in Helena, Montana. Amidst the beautiful Rocky Mountains, she grew up skiing, mountain biking, and wandering aimlessly around them. Currently, she is a Sophomore in Texas State University’s BFA Acting program where she goofs around with her fourteen other class of ’21 ensemble members in Movement, Acting, and Voice/Speech classes. Willa was introduced to Eagle’s Nest when she spent a semester at The Outdoor Academy in 2014. This Summer, in addition to being a cabin counselor, she’ll be teaching Drama, Music, and Hiking classes. She can’t wait to be back in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and the joy-filled community at Eagles Nest. In her free time she likes to play guitar with her band Carpet Burn, and find sunny spots to lie down in. Her favorite spot at camp is anywhere there’s a campfire.
My nam is Zoe Parsons and I’m from Saluda, North Carolina. I’m currently a student at American University in Washington DC. I’ve been going to Eagle’s Nest Camp since I was seven years old and I’m so glad to be back this summer as a cabin counselor! I’ve always wanted to be a counselor at Eagle’s Nest and now was my chance, I’m glad to be spending the summer at a place I consider home. I love to listen to music, write poems, eat ice cream, and spend time with my friends and family. I love the outdoors, especially all the beautiful hiking trails Pisgah Forest has to offer.
Hi ENC! I am Logan Morlino and I currently attend Appalachian State University, with a major in Political Science. In my free time I enjoy climbing, writing poetry, hiking, and baking pastries. I am so excited to once again spend my summer at my favorite place!
I am from Oxford, Mississippi and I am finishing up my sophomore year at Mississippi State University! I started going to Eagle’s Nest when I was seven and this will be my second summer on staff! I am an Event Stylist /planner and specialize in traditional weddings, making them elegant and modern. I am also a Sunday School teacher at my church. A family friend told me about the summer camp experience. This will be my first time working at Eagles Nest Camp and I look forward to meeting amazing new people, more especially interacting with the children and getting an opportunity to see the world through their eyes and going on adventures with them. The reason I signed up to be a counselor at this camp is because I wanted the opportunity to meet and interact with people from different parts of the world, who have different perspectives and cultures. I think if we have the opportunity to learn and to be exposed to peoples differences, we as a people would be more tolerant and kinder to one another. In my free time I enjoy making paper flowers, reading and being in the outdoors. I enjoy taking part on hikes and taking walks on the beach. I also like spending time with family and friends.
I’m originally from Cleveland, Ohio and am a rising junior at Middlebury College in Vermont. This is my second summer at Eagle’s Nest teaching campcraft and other wilderness classes. Hey! I’m Sophie! I’m from Asheville NC, but I am currently attending school at Appalachian State as a Special Education major! I’ve been coming to Eagle’s Nest since I was a kid, as a camper, JC, and I am also an OA alumni! My mom grew up coming to camp and met my dad when they were counselors, so Eagle’s Nest has been a part of my family for years. I will be a cabin counselor this summer and I am so excited. I have been looking forward to taking on this role since I was a kid, and I’m very ready to start the summer off right. In my free time I love to run, I know I’m crazy, but it’s pretty much all I do, and a lot of fun too. My favorite place to be outdoors is the top of Rich Mountain in Boone. It’s a two and a half mile run up to the peak, but once you get up there you can see 360 views and it makes the hard work worth it! I cannot wait to meet you all and have the best summer yet!
I’m Tommy Mozier and I’m coming back for my third summer on staff at ENC! This summer, I will be the waterfront director as well as a counselor. I grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; I’m now a rising senior at Appalachian State University where I’m studying journalism. I’m very excited to be a part of the Eagles Nest community again. Since I’ve been coming here, I’ve met so many wonderful campers and staff whom I have remained great friends with outside of camp. Eagles Nest also gives campers and staff a unique opportunity to spend a lot of time in nature. It’s a nice change of pace from 21st century life. Most of my time is taken up by school work, swimming or writing for the school paper. But when I’m not, I’m either reading, spending time with friends, or taking advantage of where I go to school and going on a hike or visiting a waterfall. While Boone has some amazing natural places, Pisgah Forest by Brevard is my favorite place to be outdoors. Naturally, I love all of the waterfalls in one place and can’t wait to go back to them this summer!
