Course Registration & Transcript Information: Semester/Bimester

This form is for students whose sending schools use a schedule best described as a "semester" or "bi-mester". This means that most core classes cover a half-year's content per semester and stay the same throughout the academic year. OA will therefore give the student a half-year credit for each course on their official OA transcript unless an alternative credit weight is approved by OA's Dean of Academics.

Please note: all Outdoor Academy Courses are taught at the honors level and will be credited as such.

OA Core Classes: English, Environmental Science, History, Art, PE, and Health & Wellness. All students get to take these six courses.

Additional Offerings: Math, Spanish or Independent Language Study (for those already taking a non-Spanish language). Students choose up to two of these courses. All students also have at least one study hall period. If the student does not need math and/or a language, they have a choice of an extra study hall period and/or OA's unique Nature Writing elective.

Nature Writing is an independent study that can be taken for credit. OA reserves the right to award credit based on progress made in the class.

This is uncommon and must have been pre-approved by OA's Dean of Academics, since the majority of schools can match OA's credits to their own courses once the student receives their official OA transcript.

Course Registration & Transcript Information: Traditional Block

This form is for students whose sending schools use a schedule best described as a "traditional block" setup. This means that most core classes cover a year's content per semester and classes change between semesters. OA will therefore give the student a full-year or "block" credit for each course on their official OA transcript unless an alternative credit weight is approved by OA's Dean of Academics.

Course Registration & Transcript Information: Trimester

This form is for students whose sending schools use a schedule best described as a trimester. Trimester schedules differ in whether core classes (e.g. Algebra 2 or English) cover one or two semesters, or if they occur the full year. Most schools using a trimester schedule can fill out the following form and adjust credit weights as needed once the student returns from The Outdoor Academy. Thus, each course on the official OA transcript will have a "0.5 credit" weight, indicating half a year's worth of credit, unless an alternative credit weight is approved by OA's Dean of Academics.
